COLD WEATHER SKETCHES

it also makes me look even smaller.

i could not live without my heated blanket, or my tucker

who i would love to dress in little people clothes, but people tell me it's wrong...

year-round, but especially when it starts getting colder, i love dressing like a boy

especially in my favorite newsie hat.

LET THE WILD RUMPUS BEGIN

halloweeeeeen drawing! i realized that it was eerily similar to the one i did last year, so i flipped it around. sneaky photoshoping! i'm way too tired to color it right now even though i want to, so i'll work on that later. the actual size of this is about 3X4 inches cause i draw so friggin small...

anywaaays, it parallels what I and my own wolf-man are being for halloween. Axel is Max from Where the Wild Things Are, and Clouds is Coraline from Coraline (which might be my new favorite movie of the year; previously Wall-e). she even already had the blue hair! she's also showing him how to be a proper wild thing. he, as usual, is perturbed by his mate's oddness. it pleases me that Axel already had a wolf tail + claws so he cut those out of the costume!!

wood-cuts of a dangerous variety

this was from last semester, but i forgot all about it until now! i was part of a group that did some large wooden cut outs for the downtown YMCA and one of the categories was fish for the kid's swimming area or something. i never understood why, but the toddlers/baby area get the really scary pike and my moray eel. i cut this bad boy out of MFB wood with a jigsaw all by my lonesone, then painted it a horrifying blood color to give those kiddies extra swimming nightmares... at least i did try to give him a goofy smile.

harry potters sketchings

i got the half-blood prince on tape and have been listening to it obsessively and at every moment i have the time to. this is what came of it. seriously though- Voldemort is ridiculous and i love drawing him. Hermione and Harry turned out kind of eh, but Ron is exactly how i imagine him.

the other side of the garden party

i have to face this creature every day.

apparently it's a garden party

the family i am attached to like an urchin is having some sort of get together/reunion or what we ultimately decided was a 'garden party' this summer and i doodled this invite in flash for them. i didn't want to post it until i was certain people had received theirs in the mail! this was a lot of fun to do! i love working in flash because everything is so clean and easy! the magical fairy floating down is me, as it was insisted that the "peruvian pixie" be in the drawing too.

happy birthday tom (or i suck at getting things done)

yaay super late birthday present for tom cause last year he drew me the nicest clouds ever on his blog, Lead Sandwich!

i wanted to do something cute and rather simple in terms of lineart so i could dick around with the coloring! i've been wanting to try no black lineart for awhile and recently figured out a way so that it wouldn't take forever (but it still kind of did) but i'm rather pleased with how round and squishy it turned out! it looks really simple but it actually took a long time! yaaay tom!

which one looks better?

valentine attempts

"roses are red,
violets are blue,
i like smashing zombie heads in
with you."

this was the original valentine i drew for my sweetie, fresh zombie love. i had intended for there to be some zombie heads floating about, but i was doing this at the last minute and i was already not liking the drawing, so i opted for something simpler that i could finish quicker...

clouds eating axel's ear. he doesn't mind. i drew and redrew clouds' nose so many times that finally i realized i liked it better without a nose. the finished version was colored with prismas and set against a heart and put on a handmade card, but i didn't take a photo... maybe next post.

FLASH DOODLES

the top image refers to one night i planned to finish a batgirl drawing and my dog decided to get into chocolate, so i had to induce vomiting in him. not a pleasant night. the second image shows how i have the two best friends in the world, but often find myself sandwiched between two impassive boulders at night. the third is the result of provoking me, and the last is a simple portrait, complete with my favorite brown shoes!
