the odd couple

due to the fact that clouds always wears oversized shirts, it was evident that she must have a mate of some sort. he finally came out on pen and paper and this is him: axel, because the name got stuck in my head and i couldn't get it out. wolfish (literally!), serious, responsible and very patient, he is almost the opposite of clouds. he may seem scary, but he's a gummy bear inside. i think the crux of their relationship is that she's an idiot and he thinks that's endearing. but she's cute as anything so it's ok.











and then my dear love went and spoiled me terribly by buying me a bunch of new prismas! so i colored up an semi-ok drawing i had of clouds and axel on halloween!


















axel is a skeleton and clouds is a cloud ... because she's special. she also refuses to touch the ground in light of her costume.

this is probably the oddest thing i've ever done. birthday present. this is the scariest face clouds can manage. i think its pretty horrifying. unfortunatley i messed up the format so the electric neon colors aren't as intense as the are on my screen...

new baby equals tucker, my adopted rescue corgi! he's a wiggle butt with endless kisses and squeaky happy noises.


but somehow while still immersed in the hectic ongoings of this summer and the nursing of stray cats and new pup pups, something good comes out on paper! hooray! i'm trying to work on continuity more. using my own (cartoon) face as a guinea pig! my favorite is the plotting one.

ITS A TRAP

in my illustration class, our last assignment was to create a cover for the July version arts and entertainment magazine of West Michigan, On-The-Town, of the Grand Rapids Picnic Pops concert or something, i really didn't pay much attention. From all the student work, one illustration would be chosen for actual publication, and lo and behold, my ridiculous last minute entry was selected! i was called and informed while my mouth was full of cake at my boyfriend's brother birthday happy happy birthday max ...



















at least i know my work is sellable. i'll post something of it when i finish making the changes they wanted...

chai and bandit apparently having beat the shit of something/one/people! i was grouchy and tired when i drew this, which was, ironically, right after i turned in the on-the-town cover :| for some reason, puce lineart appeals to me. sooo sleeeepy

rejected logo idea

we're doing some logo design and buisness-y stuff in class and i'm focusing my logo ideas on my being completely freaking tiny. it's a good things cause i can hide and cradle myself into teeny places. woooo! also the speech bubble with skull/heart/exclamation point is something i have drawn for a very long while and kind of consider it my personal logo.

this one didn't fly with my prof, so on to better things! i still like it though :|

the mystic orient

i drew this while in japan last december, visiting my sister. the quiet, deserted and eerie shrines were my favorites, with demon gargoyles of the rooftops with their inverted eyes and tongues. this demon standing behind Chai is no doubt inspired by them. i'll finish it one day.

final fantasy IX is soooo good i haven't moved from my couch all day ahhhh i'm so lazy when on a game kick. to compensate: an old-ish gimmick doodle. he may be cute, but he's not very nice.

really quick doodle of the outcome of the rare occasion when i lose at video games. done for my beloooved. i think the original caption was "most of the time while i seem docile and gregarious i would probably cut your heart out for a candy bar."

clouds

bobtail cat-thing: clouds. a personification of my dim, distracted side. her main interests are eating things and napping. aside from that she's not terribly astute or attentive, but is pretty cute as far as things go. she prefers playing with acorns or mushrooms or whatever she can find than interaction with other people. she often gets things stuck to her tongue (lollipops, candy, icicles, etc) somewhere in her adorable stupidity, she has a vague semblance of wit.

this one is older, when she still had bobcat-like ears instead of kitty ones.
